Ginnie Livingston, RN, MSN, CYT
Ginnie Livingston is a Certified Yoga Therapist (CYT) and Yoga Teacher. She received
her Integrative Yoga Therapy Certification in 1999 and certification in Cardiac Yoga in
2000.
Ginnie's yoga therapy practice has grown from her desire to help clients recapture
once lost movement and function in a safe, non-competitive, and nurturing
atmosphere. Her areas of specialization include clients with rheumatoid and
osteoarthritis, back and shoulder pain, lupus, scleroderma, fibromyalgia and those with
issues of depression and anxiety. She has been a lead yoga teacher at Arthritis Health
since July 2000 and guides a series of yoga classes. These range from private yoga
therapy, chair yoga, gentle flow yoga, and active flow yoga. Her passion is assisting
people to achieve their highest level of vitality and well-being while being supported in
a community of care.
She served as an instructor for yoga teacher training at the Yoga Conservatory in
2002 and 2004 and was on staff for cardiac teacher training at Satchidananda Ashram
in 2003. She participated as the yoga therapist for the 2002 ASU-Arthritis Health
Research Study to investigate the effect of a 10-week yoga intervention on cortisol
response to stress in women with rheumatoid arthritis.
Ginnie is a Master Level prepared Registered Nurse whose background includes
experience and instruction in Critical Care, Medical Surgical, and Oncology Nursing. She
taught pathophysiology and chronic illness at James Madison University and Western
Carolina University for 23 years as an associate professor. She received James
Madison University's Distinguished Teaching Award in 1992. For the last five years she
has been a clinical faculty associate at Arizona State University College of Nursing
where she supervises students in community health and foundations of nursing.
